Hi Praecedo, Are you running Exchange 2007 on a Global Catalog server? If yes then check this article. Exchange 2007 services cannot start automatically after you install Exchange 2007 on a global catalog server

Hi Praecedo, If Exchange 2007 is not runningon a Global Catalog server, I would like to confirm if you have ever modified the following files. Microsoft.Exchange.pop3.exe.config Microsoft.Exchange.pop3service.exe.config. Microsoft.Exchange.pop3.exe.config.bak Microsoft.Exchange.pop3service.exe.config.bak Microsoft.Exchange.imap4.exe.config Microsoft.Exchange.imap4service.exe.config. Microsoft.Exchange.imap4.exe.config.bak Microsoft.Exchange.imap4service.exe.config.bak If so, you can try to copy these files from a fresh installed Exchange 2007 server. These files are locate at Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\PopImap\. Please do a full backup before these changes. Thanks, Elvis

Hello Praecedo, By default, startup type of POP3 & IMAP services are Manual. Make sure that Startup Type is set to Automaticfor both of services to start automatically after reboot. Edit:: Opps!! I didn't read you question properly, you mentioned that those are already set...

Hi Praecedo, You can try to set their start type as manual to see if your imap/pop client can work properly, as their default start type is manual. If it can works in manual start type, as you mentioned no error in event log and it can be start properly manually. The issue can be caused by the server bottleneck when starting. I mean if the server resource(eg. memoryor CPU usage is very high)is not enough when staring the computer or their depends on service havent start when the system trying to start pop/imap services. Additionally, if they can works well in manual start type, it seems like we dont need to worry about this issue. I await your reply. Thanks, Elvis

I have the exact same problem. I am not able to start the services of POP and IMAP. Every time i do so, the eventlog logs: The worker process crashes continuously on startup: C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\PopImap\Microsoft.Exchange.Pop3.exe. The service will be stopped. Pls Advise Regards Cees

After removing the CAS role and reinstalling it, everything worked fine again.
